About the breed
Temperament & care
Shiba Inus are bold, spirited dogs with a cat-like independence and a strong sense of loyalty to their family. They are clean by nature and tend to groom themselves, but their alert personality means they need consistent socialisation from puppyhood. Despite their compact size, Shibas have a big-dog attitude and thrive with confident, patient owners.
Grooming needs
Shibas have a thick double coat that blows out heavily twice a year — daily brushing during shedding season is essential. Outside of those periods, a weekly brush and occasional bath keep their coat in top condition.
