Temperament & care
Border Collies are widely considered the world's most intelligent dog breed, bred for intensive herding work on the Scottish and Welsh borders. They have extraordinary energy levels and an almost compulsive need for mental and physical stimulation — without it they can become destructive. They bond deeply with one person and thrive in active households with a clear job to do.
Grooming needs
Both rough-coated and smooth-coated Border Collies need brushing two to three times a week, with extra attention during biannual shedding periods. Their coats are relatively self-cleaning and need bathing only when genuinely dirty.
